Cesfam Huertos Familiares of Tiltil once again has night medical care
The Family Health Center of the district will have a doctor who will attend patients at night between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. in order to solve queries and vital emergencies 24 hours a day.
“Before, in order to receive medical care, one would go on a pilgrimage all night. It happened to me on more than one occasion that someone was very sick or in pain and the only way to know what was happening was to take the vehicle and go to Tiltil or Santiago,” explains Andrés Rivera, a resident of Huertos Familiares and a neighborhood leader from that town which, until a few months ago, did not have 24-hour health care at its care center.
This is because, due to lack of resources, the Cesfam Huertos Familiares of Tiltil had to stop providing continuous care. However, thanks to our donation, the Family Health Center once again has a night shift doctor who will be able to attend to patients with consultations or emergencies during the night.
“It was a very heartfelt request from our community, so for us it is a great advance that people can have 24-hour medical attention right here, in our town,” added Rivera.
Previously, the care center only had a nursing technician at a higher level and ambulance drivers to receive those patients who arrived after 11:00 p.m. Situation that, in case of emergencies, forced people to be transferred to other care centers.
Freddy Caraballo, a doctor on the night shift at Cesfam Huertos Familiares, highlighted the importance of this situation, because “if a cardiorespiratory arrest or vital emergency came, they really were not going to have a way to solve it. We had to support ourselves with the Tiltil community hospital, which is approximately 40 minutes away by ambulance. 40 minutes that can be essential for the life of the patient”.
María Francisca Ortiz, director of Cesfam Huertos Familiares, assured that “today, and thanks to this donation from CMPC, we have the complete medical team. Not only by phone call, but in person, until the next day. This allows us to provide better quality care and much more efficiency and effectiveness for our population and for all those users who come to the emergency service”.
For his part, the mayor of Tiltil, Luis Valenzuela, expressed his gratitude for the agreement and assured that “today we can ensure that the southern rural emergency service comes to value the quality and care of the residents of Huertos Familiares and surroundings. The emergency comes at the worst time, it is not planned. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that the doctor is on the entire night shift, ”he indicated.
Pía Fernández, Head of Liaison for the Metropolitan Region of CMPC, explained that the agreement was born after an approach with the Municipality of Tiltil to see what the needs of the territory were. “This news makes us very happy, our plant is located in Huertos Familiares, therefore, it makes a lot of sense to participate with the Municipality in this initiative,” added Fernández.
