CMPC is recognized as one of the leading water management companies in the world
2019 was the fifth year that the company participated in the CDP assessment on water security and achieved the highest classification for the first time.
Empresas CMPC achieved a place as one of the 71 companies worldwide with the highest honor on the prestigious Water Security A List of the CDP.
The CDP or the Carbon Disclosure Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to becoming the most complete global system of environmental information to which companies and cities can report on the impact of their actions on climate change, water and deforestation.
In 2019 nearly 2,500 companies around the world answered the Water Security survey created by the CDP, in which, CMPC and Concha y Toro, in Chile, achieved an A ranking, surpassing the regional average for Latina America (B grade), and the global average (B-) and the Wood Pulp and Paper industry (B).
CMPC participated in the Water Security category for the fifth year and achieved placement in the “leadership” segment this time. This means that it is currently implementing the leadership best practices and being recognized for its long-term commitment to sustainability.
Paul Simpson, CEO of CDP, said: “The scale of the business risks from the climate emergency, deforestation and water insecurity are vast – as are the opportunities from addressing them – and it’s clear the private sector has a vital role to play at this critical time. The A List companies are leading the market in corporate sustainability, tackling environmental risks and setting themselves up to thrive in tomorrow’s economy.”
