Primeros Pueblos [First Peoples] and the CMPC Foundation celebrate Children’s Month in Chile with storytelling

More than 30 children and their families attended the recreational activity that took place in the Primeros Pueblos store, a CMPC initiative that seeks to value the work of artisans from southern Chile.

La Niña de la Calavera, written by Marcela Reca Barren and edited by Amanuta, is the main story told at the storytelling event that the CMPC Foundation held together with Primeros Pueblos in its store in the Casacostanera Mall located in the city of Santiago during the month in Chile celebrating childhood.

The activity was attended by Fabiola Gatica, coordinator of the Metropolitan Region of the HIPPY program, a CMPC Foundation project that promotes parents and caregivers as the first educators of their children. She was the storyteller during the event, which was attended by more than 30 children and their families.

The story is based on a Mapuche tale and follows the life of Mallén, a beautiful young Mapuche woman engaged to marry and the conflict with her stepmother who makes a magic potion to prevent it. After listening to the story, the children got to draw and paint their favorite part of the story.

Primeros Pueblos is a CMPC initiative that seeks to bring the culture of rural communities under the rules of fair trade, respecting the traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation.
