The new CMPC – Duoc UC Nacimiento campus to be inaugurated
This new educational center will create a pole of knowledge in southern Chile and the dual training model of technical-professional education will continue to be positioned in the country.
One of the most anticipated events for Nacimiento, a district located in the Biobío Region in south-central Chile, is the inauguration of the new CMPC – Duoc UC Nacimiento campus. This means that residents of the municipalities of Nacimiento, Laja, San Rosendo, Collipulli, Angol, Negrete, Renaico and surrounding areas can continue their studies without having to move to other regions. The watershed event will be held on Wednesday, April 12. Authorities from both institutions, as well as the mayor, neighbors and students will be in attendance.
The project is situated on a 17,931 square mile plot and has a three-storey building, large green areas, and first-class equipment available not only to students, but to the entire community in the hopes of becoming a cultural landmark for the residents of the surrounding areas.
“This new campus was conceptualized in a new way with the aim of being linked to the community and reaching beyond our students and employees. We hope to contribute to the local area by providing access to a professional technical training of excellence,” said María Francisca Correa, Director of the Padre Alonso de Ovalle Center and Nacimiento Campus.
The Campus will offer a dual training model in which students will be able to put into practice -at CMPC companies- what they have learned in the classroom starting from the very first semester of their studies.
At the moment, seven degree programs will be offered on campus: Logistics Technician, People Management Technician, Administration Technician, Electro-mechanical Maintenance Technician, Electrical and Industrial Automation Technician, Nursing Technician and Computer Programmer Analyst (the latter will be taught 100% online).
