We are Part of the Forest: photo exhibit comes to the CMPC – Duoc UC Nacimiento campus in Chile
The photo exhibit showing images of forests from around the world is open to the public until Friday, September 1. They are the result of a photography competition called We are Part of the Forest.
The exhibit – on the first floor of the Campus Nacimiento CMPC DUOC UC in the Biobío Region in south-central Chile – presents 24 winning and outstanding photos of the international contest, which are displayed on large format corrugated cardboard panels. The public will be able to view diverse landscapes as well as flora and fauna of the world’s forests, which masterfully captures the winning images of the competition put on by PEFC Chile, a Chilean certification system for sustainable forest management.
The inauguration of the “We are part of the forest” exhibit was attended by representatives of PFEC Chile, CMPC, the CMPC – Duoc UC Nacimiento campus and local social organizations. The Nature, Conservation and Biodiversity strategy of CMPC was also announced at the event.
At the exhibit’s opening, PEFC Chile Technical Secretary Rodrigo Vidal said, “The exhibition makes guests feel a complete connection with the benefits of forests, as it shows their natural wealth and is presented in the physical format of cardboard made from forest fiber that comes from sustainably managed forests and controlled sources. In addition, the panels were made by a certified printer.”
CMPC Sustainable Fiber and Conservation Deputy Manager Francisco Rodríguez valued the opportunity that the Nacimiento residents have to host part of the international contest. “This is a perfect match because people have the chance to see the exhibit of the 2022 photo contest promoted by PFEC that collects images of nature. What’s better than having it on this campus whose architectural design incorporates the use of wood elements?”
Nature takes hold of the Campus corridors
The large formats of the photographs mounted on the CMPC – Duoc UC Nacimiento campus are moving to anyone who lays eyes on them, not only because of their photographic composition, but also due to the landscapes and fauna captured by the contestants’ entries. The exhibit is hosted on the first floor of the modern higher education campus in Nacimiento and can be viewed until Friday, September 1.
CMPC – Duoc UC Nacimiento campus Deputy Director Pablo Briones emphasized the importance of extension activities. “We have a cultural promotion and extension department that is very important thanks to this beautiful photographic exhibition. Our outdoor amphitheater for one hundred people is another example of its utility. We want the campus to not only be an environment for learning, but a space that promotes culture as well.”
